The Lady Longhorns season is still going strong. On Saturday, September 28, the Longhorns traveled to Lakin to play in a tournament and went 4-2. On Thursday, October 3, the volleyball team traveled to Hugoton and went 2-0. That Saturday, October 5, the Lady Longhorns traveled to South Western Heights and went 4-1 taking second place.

On Thursday, October 10, the Lady Longhorns has a big night. It wasn’t only Dig Pink night, but it was Senior Night as well. It was a very emotional night, from honoring those who lost their battle to cancer, those who survived, those who are still fighting, and our seniors last time playing on their home court.

Madi Ruda, senior, said “I thought the night was an overall success. We raised lots of money for the cancer center and every team played their hearts our not only for ourselves, but we played for those who have fought cancer.” As for volleyball, she said “The night didn’t end how we’d like it to, but we gave it our all and fought until the last point.”

Nicole Ruda, sophomore, adds on “I thought the games went really well! We had a lot of intensity throughout the night and we fought really hard.” She also states “Senior night went well, but I’m so sad to see the seniors leave. I’m not quite ready for them to leave after this year, but I’m glad I got to get to know them!”

The Lady Longhorns next game, also their last regular season game, will be on Tuesday, October 15, in Lamar Colorado. The Longhorns will play one game that night best 3 out of 5 and then go into sub-state.
